Pianist
Juliana Osinchuk is one of today's most versatile artists
performing internationally to great critical acclaim since
age eleven when she made a surprise debut in Carnegie Recital
Hall performing Beethoven's Sonata op. 10 # 1 to rave reviews.
She has continued to dazzle audiences and critics from Alaska
to New York to Washington, D.C., from London to Amsterdam,
and from Germany to Ukraine. The Los Angeles Times wrote about
her "superior technique, discipline and talent"
and The Washington Post called her recent recital "spectacular."
After her formal recital debut at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully
Hall, Musical America selected her as a "Young Artist
to Watch."
Among
Juliana's teachers were Nadia Boulanger, Rosina Lhevinne,
and Nadia Reisenberg, and she received her formal education
from the Conservatoire de Musique in Paris and the Juilliard
School where she graduated with a bachelor's, master's and
doctor of musical arts degrees.
As a champion
of American composers, Dr. Osinchuk has premiered numerous
works. In 1995, she was a recipient of a solo recitalist grant
from the National Endowment for the Arts, and presented solo
recitals at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., New York
City, and Seattle featuring works of three Alaska composers:
John Luther Adams, Craig Coray and Philip Munger. She gave
the European premiere of Lowell Liebermann's 2nd Piano Concerto
at the Kyiv Contemporary Music Fest, and received rave reviews
from critics and audience alike for her performance of the
world premiere of Philip Munger's Piano Concerto with the
Anchorage Symphony.
Her orchestral
engagements include performances with symphony orchestras
across the United States and Europe, including the Tucson,
Sacramento, and Northwest Chicago Symphony Orchestras. Juliana
is a much sought after chamber pianist, who has collaborated
with such artists such as Ruggiero Ricci, Daniel Heifetz,
Nathaniel Rosen, and Maria Chaikovska. Osinchuk's recordings
include Tchaikovsky's Piano Music, The Sorcerer's Piano, and
Growing Babies Bright. A new solo CD will be released in 2008,
as well as an album of lieder duets with soprano, Kate Egan
& mezzo, Marlene Bateman.
Dr. Osinchuk
is active as an educator developing and presenting music workshops
for young students in remote and urban school locations. She
is well known for her lecture-recitals for professional and
community groups. Juliana was awarded in 2001 the BP/YWCA
"Woman of Achievement Award" for her professional
excellence and community service. She is on the Steinway Piano
roster of international artists, has served on the faculty
of Hunter College in New York City, and was associate professor
at the State University of N.Y. at Purchase. Currently Juliana
